Helen Weiss, Professor of Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, is a statistical epidemiologist who has made major contributions in the fields of HIV, mental health and eye health in resource-poor settings. She was the first scientist to publish robust observational evidence that male circumcision reduced the risk of HIV infection among heterosexual men, leading to WHO guidelines.|Professor Weiss is experienced in global mental health research; her collaborations in India, Pakistan and Zimbabwe have shown that counselling interventions delivered by trained lay-workers provide scale-able treatment for depression, anxiety, alcohol use disorders and maternal depression.|
