Professor Guy Rutty MBE FMedSci
Guy Rutty, Professor of Forensic Pathology at the University of Leicester, is the UK’s leading academic forensic pathologist.
He is the pathologist that uniquely examined King Richard III, detailing the injuries, providing a probable cause of death using post-mortem computed tomography (PMCT).
His ground-breaking work has shown that in 9/10 cases of natural sudden death, a full invasive autopsy is unnecessary, as the internal examination can be substituted by PMCT.
He has pioneered the use of mobile CT Scanners for mass-fatality investigation an approach is that is now globally recognised through INTERPOL for the investigation of such incidents. He is furthering use of PMCT to investigate cardiopulmonary resuscitation to enhance the evidence base to improve CPR, thus saving lives.
