Faith Osier, Chair in Malaria Immunology and Vaccinology at Imperial College London, is an outstanding scientist, leader and educator. Her research has made major contributions to the understanding of immunity to malaria. She has a passionate commitment to the careers of young researchers and has supervised many PhD students and post-doctoral fellows from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali, Germany, and Sweden. She has shown visionary leadership, as Vice-President and President of the International Union of Immunological Societies where she led the launch of the FAIS Legacy Project to train 1000 African PhD researchers driven by her passion to tap into the enormous potential of scientists in resource-constrained settings to find solutions to urgent health challenges.
