Amrita Ahluwalia is Professor of Vascular Pharmacology and Lead of The Vascular Pharmacology Group at Queen Mary’s, University of London. She is highly distinguished for her ground-breaking, seminal discoveries defining and establishing the role of the non-canonical pathway for nitric oxide generation in physiology and therapeutics. As the first female and person of colour Editor-in-Chief of The British Journal of Pharmacology she has led international community guidance on reproducibility and transparency, spear-headed discipline changing initiatives, transparency in animal research reporting and consideration of sex as an experimental variable. She is one of the few minority women to reach leadership position as Institute Director within UK medical Schools.
