Ammar Al-Chalabi, Professor of Neurology and Complex Disease Genetics at King’s College London, is an international leader in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. He has had significant impact on gene discovery, clinical trial design and precision medicine approaches to ALS, and major policy impact through his advocacy for patients. He is co-director of the UK Motor Neuron Disease Research Institute, which has already established two globally unique research programmes in the UK that will dramatically shorten the time to new therapies for patients.
