Adrian Liston is Senior Group Leader at the Babraham Institute in Cambridge. His work has focused on uncovering the genetic weak points that lead to failures of immune regulation, and determining the mechanisms leading to disease. This research is noted for integrating multiple approaches, from basic research to clinical immunology to population-level studies. Working on the immune system in the context of the organism, he has led research breakthroughs in the fields of primary immune deficiencies, diabetes, pancreatic cancer and neuroinflammatory disease. He is highly active in the public engagement of science, with activities ranging from public seminars on immunology to the development of community engagement tools to the authorship of children’s books on vaccination and primary immune diseases.
