Tracy Palmer, Professor of Microbiology at Newcastle University, is an internationally acclaimed molecular microbiologist who has made seminal contributions to the understanding of bacterial protein secretion systems. She is one of the co-discoverers of the bacterial twin-arginine protein translocation pathway that catalysed a completely new field within microbiology.
She contributes to the vitality of her field via significant contributions to professional societies and national and international advisory groups and committees, many funding panels and as a council member of the UK Microbiology Society.
She is an outstanding role model for women in science and brings a deep understanding of cutting-edge bacterial research with relevance to microbiomes, bacterial pathogenesis and anti-microbial therapy.
