Stefano Pluchino is Clinical Professor of Regenerative Neuroimmunology at the University of Cambridge. He was one of the first to begin to dissect mechanisms of regeneration and repair in multiple sclerosis. He has led pioneering work on the use of neural stem/progenitor cells for progressive MS, addressing a major area of unmet clinical need. He has established multidisciplinary collaborations across immunology, neurology, cell biology, and bioengineering to develop next-generation stem cell-based therapies. His work with stem cells shaped early stages of the field for MS and he continues to inspire and lead translational science in the area with his strong commitment to rigorous science as a foundation for clinical innovation.
