Professor Raymond Hill FMedSci
Ray Hill is Executive Director Licencing and External Research at MSD. He has made major contributions to drug development particularly in the fields of pain and drug induced vomiting, by adopting a wide ranging basic neuroscience approach including in vivo electrophysiology, behavioural, neurochemical, anatomical and molecular biological techniques, development of novel animal models including transgenics and the use of human receptors and tissue. His leadership of teams at Parke-Davis, SKF and Merck has led directly to drugs that have entered the market and benefited patients. He has a long track record of collaborating with University laboratories, a role which he fostered through his position as Executive Director for Licensing and External Research in Europe (CHECK). His wider skills have been recognised by a succession of appointments to senior committees both with the MRC and the Wellcome Trust including Chairmanship of the MRC ROPA panel and Chairmanship of the integrated physiology panel for the Wellcome Trust amongst others. Professor Hill is an exceptional Pharmacologist with a broad vision of biomedical research.
