Dr. Nicolas Tapon FMedSci

Nicholas Tapon, Principal Group Leader at the Francis Crick Institute, is a world leader in the study of animal tissue growth and architecture. He is a co-discoverer of the Hippo pathway, which not only controls tissue size during development but has been implicated in the progression of numerous cancers. His lab continues to push the boundaries of our understanding of how cells within a tissue sense and maintain organ size using a combination of quantitative in vivo work, biochemistry, structural biology and computational simulations. He is also an outstanding communicator who embraces diverse ways of sharing science with the public, from “Pint of Science” informal public events, lectures in schools, theatre, and funder events.
