Professor Nicholas Timpson FMedSci
Nicholas Timpson, Co-Director of Population Research UK at the University of Bristol, is amongst the UKs foremost scientists working in the fields of epidemiology, genetic epidemiology and cohort studies. His work focuses on the application of genetic epidemiology to the dissection of causal relationships between modifiable risk factors and health. As PI for the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children and now Director of UKRI Population Research UK, he championed the value of cohort resources for all researchers to support longitudinal health research.
Professor Timpson’s outreach leadership has encompassed video installations in science museums, a wide variety of media platforms, reports, newsletters and material for dissemination of research activity and engagement with schools in England and Wales.
