Melanie Saville is Chief Scientific Officer at PATH, an international NGO advancing health equity through partnerships and innovation. In the vaccine industry, she held positions of increasing responsibility in research and development in Wyeth, Sanofi Pasteur and Janssen vaccines.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, she led the R&D and Manufacturing team at CEPI that built and supported a portfolio of 14 COVID-19 vaccine candidates in a partnership model with vaccine developers. Dr Saville was instrumental in the setup of COVAX, leading the R&D and Manufacturing workstreams and played a key role in developing the R&D agenda for the 100 days mission, identifying key innovations to drastically reduce development time for a vaccine for the next pandemic.
