Professor Mark Jit FMedSci
Mark Jit, Professor of Vaccine Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, is a world leader in mathematical and economic modelling of vaccination and other infectious disease interventions. His team of researchers design models to inform the UK Department of Health and governments around the world on the most effective ways to deploy these interventions. He has developed innovations widely used by other modelling groups, such as the first global set of synthetic contact matrices that are central to many infectious disease models.
Most major UK vaccine decisions over the last 15 years have been guided by his team’s cost-effectiveness models. He is a strong advocate for greater global vaccine equity, highlighted through his work on the health and economic cost of inequalities in vaccine coverage.
