Professor Louise Kenny CBE FMedSci

Louise Kenny, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Head of Faculty of Health & Life Sciences at the University of Liverpool, is one of the world’s leading authorities on hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and developmental origins of health and disease. She is skilled at convening diverse groups with polarised opinions, ensuring respectful discussions and addressing contentious issues, such as her work in the wake of the Citizens’ Assembly on the 8th Amendment in Ireland, when she took on a leadership role in advocating for Repeal and campaigning for the introduction of legislation for safe, legal abortion. She gave evidence before the Irish Parliament Health Committee on several occasions and was personally credited with convincing politicians from across the spectrum to support Repeal.
