Kristian Helin is CEO and President of the Institute of Cancer Research. He has made several seminal discoveries in the fields of cell cycle control, epigenetics and cancer.
Work in the Helin lab has led to impactful mechanistic insights into how the Polycomb group proteins regulate chromatin architecture, DNA accessibility, gene expression, stem cell identity and differentiation. The lab was one of the first to demonstrate a role for the Polycomb group protein, EZH2, in cancer, a finding that was essential to define EZH2 as a therapeutic target and the development and approval of EZH2 inhibitors for treatment of cancer patients.
