Professor James Ware FMedSci
James Ware is Professor of Cardiovascular & Genomic Medicine at Imperial College London. He leads an exceptional translational research program that has transformed understanding of the genomic architecture of cardiomyopathies and profoundly impacted clinical care. He prioritises representation of ancestral diversity, key to address inequalities in access to genomic medicine and its benefits, and has demonstrated how ancestral diversification translates to impactful improvement in performance of genomic biomarkers in under-represented and disadvantaged groups. He has also created numerous software tools for genome interpretation for use by the scientific and medical community which have been made available as open access and are used across diagnostic laboratories and research groups when assigning pathogenicity to genetic variation.
