Jim Ritter is Professor of Clinical Pharmacology at the Guy’s, King’s and St. Thomas’ Medical School, King’s College. He has made important contributions to our understanding of prostaglandin biosynthesis, particularly that low dose aspirin is an inhibitor of thomboxane biosynthesis that relatively spares prostacyclin. More recently he has worked on endothelial dysfunction in cardiovascular disease, and has pioneered the use of pulse waveform analysis for measuring endothelial function non-invasively, as a tool for use in large-scale outcome trials in cardiovascular disease.
