Professor Jaime Miranda, Professor & Head of School at the University of Sydney, is a distinguished academic and researcher whose work has significantly advanced the understanding and management of physical and mental chronic non-communicable diseases in low- and middle-income countries. He leads initiatives that bridge epidemiology, health policy, and clinical practice to address global health challenges.
Professor Miranda’s substantial contributions to population health focusses on pioneering research on disease prevention and health systems strengthening. His global leadership is evidenced by his unique standing at the United Nations. As co-chair of the UN Independent Group of Scientists he led the elaboration of the 2023 Global Sustainable Development Report, playing a crucial role in shaping global policies and strategies to achieve Sustainable Development Goals.
