Giles Yeo is Professor of Molecular Neuroendocrinology at the University of Cambridge. He has played a key role in establishing the importance of the central melanocortin pathway in the regulation of food intake and bodyweight which has led to approved anti-obesity drugs. He is one of the only scientists in the world tackling the problem of mapping feeding centres in the human brain and then releasing the maps in their entirety to the scientific community. He has also had substantial societal impact in sharing the science of obesity with the public. His two popular science books ‘Gene Eating’ and ‘Why Calories Don’t Count’ are sold internationally and have been translated into a number of different languages.
