Gene Feder, Professor of Primary Care at the University of Bristol, leads ground-breaking national and international research on domestic violence and abuse from epidemiology to health care response. He is the architect of IRIS, a national DVA programme for general practice, based on his trials and implementation research. By 2021, 54 UK localities commissioned the IRIS programme, resulting in more than 26,000 women supported by DVA services. He has extended his research globally through leadership of an NIHR Global Health Group in collaboration with researchers in Brazil, Palestine, Nepal, and Sri Lanka and was the primary care lead in development of the AGREE tool, the global gold standard for clinical guideline development.
