David Hawkes is Director for the Medical Image Computing Centre at University College London. He developed an accurate parametrisation of the X-ray attenuation coefficient and one of the first CT based methods for evaluating therapeutic response based on changes in both size and composition of the lesion. His world-leading research provided major contributions to fully automated 3D alignment of multi-modal medical images. He is an outstanding world-class scientist who has made tremendous clinical impact in the field of Medical Image Computing and his research continues in the quest to provide robust tools for accurate surgical therapeutic interventions in soft tissues of the chest and abdomen.
