Professor A Claudio Cuello OC FMedSci
Claudio Cuello is the Charles E Frosst/Merck Chair in Pharmacology at McGill University, Canada. He has made pioneering innovations and discoveries contributing to the development of neuroscience and the understanding of neurodegeneration. He identified novel pathways and neuroactive substances in animal and human brain, and defined unexpected sites of storage and release of neurotransmitters and neuroactive peptides, so discovering new modalities of neuronal communication. His advanced rat transgenic model of Alzheimer’s disease has helped to demonstrate intracellular amyloid-beta molecules in the early stage of amyloid pathology. Professor Cuello has also initiated the Oxford-McGill Partnership in the Neurosciences for enriching synergistic research collaborations.
