Christopher Nutting is a world-leading researcher in the field of radiation oncology at the Royal Marsden Hospital and The Institute of Cancer Research. He has worked in conjunction with medical physicists and engineers to develop and test a new form of radiation therapy called intensity modulated radiotherapy to improve cure rates and reduce side effects of radiation therapy. This technique has been used for treatment of head and neck cancer patients throughout the NHS and it is estimated that worldwide, approximately 250,000 individuals per year benefit from this advance in radiotherapy.
