Chris Chiu, Professor of Infectious Diseases at Imperial College London, is internationally recognised for his leadership in respiratory virus research and vaccine development. He led the first-in-the-world SARS-CoV-2 human infection challenge study during the COVID-19 pandemic which generated immediate and critical data on infection dynamics and diagnostics that shaped national infection control policy.

His work is a central part of global initiatives for pandemic preparedness, through the integration of fundamental and translational research with policy and industry.
