Charalambos Antoniades is Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Oxford. As Director of the Acute Multidisciplinary Imaging & Interventional Centre he launched the world’s first hybrid cathlab/photon counting CT unit, which now provides state-of-the-art healthcare to the NHS.
He is known for the discovery of the cardiovascular system-derived signals that drive fat biology, and he pioneered the use of artificial intelligence in CT angiography to non-invasively detect coronary inflammation and predict heart attacks. With this technology, he has created a new research field many groups around the world have entered, leading to over 2000 publications so far.
