Professor Anne Willis OBE FMedSci

Anne Willis, Director of the MRC Toxicology Unit at the University of Cambridge, is a world leader in post-transcriptional control of gene expression. She has made outstanding contributions to understanding the cellular and organismal responses to toxic injury, initiated by environmental or drug-related exposures. Her pioneering work on RNA biology and post-transcriptional regulation has not only advanced fundamental science but also shaped therapeutic strategies with direct implications for public health. Her work continues to influence clinical practice, regulatory frameworks, and public understanding, and she works closely with the British Toxicology Society to strengthen toxicology training for the next generation and to support the careers of women scientists.
