|Andrew Loudon is Beyer Professor of Animal Biology at the University of Manchester. He has made unique contributions in the field of chronobiology, first in basic circadian and seasonal biology, and secondly with his pioneering studies of translational relevance of these pathways for human health and disease, notably identifying the importance of clock function in sleep disorders and inflammation. |He has attracted to Manchester a world-class grouping of scientists in the field of biological timing - the largest such in the world - and established there an international centre-of-excellence. He is an excellent communicator, both in the media and to his students and the scientific community.
