Susan Hill is Chief Scientific Officer for NHS England where she plays a lead role in articulating the importance of science in health, providing professional leadership and expert advice across the whole health and care system. She has led major system and workforce transformation to improve patient outcomes and service effectiveness in the NHS and beyond. Significantly, she played a major role in developing the NHS workforce to support the challenges of the future by devising and leading delivery of the ‘Modernising Scientific Careers’ programme providing, for the first time, a single integrated career framework, training programmes, curricula and delivery infrastructure for the over 50 specialisms of healthcare science.
