Cooksey's review of UK health research

Joint Academy and Royal Society response to Sir David's Cooksey's review of UK health research and the best institutional arrangements for a single fund for health research.

Status: Completed

In the March 2006 budget, the Chancellor, Gordon Brown, announced a single, ring-fenced budget to support the health research funded by the Medical Research Council and the NHS R&D Programme. Sir David Cooksey was asked to lead a review on the best institutional arrangements for this new single fund for health research.

The Academy and the Royal Society prepared a joint response to Sir David's invitation to submit comments. The submission was developed following wide consultation with Fellows and colleagues, and was endorsed by the Councils of both Academies.
