The Academy is represented within Health Education England's advisory strutures through its Medical Advisory Group.
This activity helps us not only influence policy, but also to nurture the next generation generation of medical researchers.
The Medical Advisory Group is one of six professional boards of Health Education England, the body that oversees education and training of health professionals in the NHS. It is responsible for recommending policies and practices for medical training to Health Education England's Board. One of its duties is to ensure that the needs of academic medicine are recognised.
The Academy is represented on the Group by Professor Edwin Chilvers FMedSci.
Health Education England's Academic Training Group advises its Medical Advisory Group on research training in the NHS. This includes issues relating to clinical academic trainees, as well as advice on how HEE can ensure that all medical trainees understand research, can participate in it and can use the results of research to improve patient care.
