Starter Grants for Clinical Lecturers open for applications

We are pleased to announce that Round 19 of the Starter Grants scheme is now open to applications from clinicians in veterinary, human and dental medicine.

The Starter Grants scheme is open to Clinical Lecturers who are looking to develop and strengthen their research careers, by providing them with up to £30,000 of funding to cover the cost of research consumables over a period of 1-2 years. Since 2008, the scheme has supported almost 400 Clinical Lecturers, conducting a broad spectrum of health-related research, with grants totalling over £11 million.

A recent case study from Dr Noémi Roy, who was awarded a Starter Grant in 2014, highlights the impact the scheme has on the careers of clinical academics.

“I feel very privileged to have received this grant,” says Dr Roy. “It has opened a lot of doors for me, and given me the chance to develop and expand my own research”.

You can apply for the Starter Grants scheme using the Academy's online grant management system: Flexi-Grant

The deadline for applications will be 17.00 GMT, Friday 16 March 2018.

For more information, including eligibility and how to apply, please see the Academy's Starter Grant webpage.
