Winter Science Meeting

The Winter Science Meeting is a great opportunity for our award holders to showcase their research, network with each other, Academy Fellows and research funders, and explore the next steps in their research careers. It is an annual one-day conference, in which delegates can take part in poster and oral presentation sessions, with prizes up for grabs.

This year we are unable to hold our normal in-person meeting, however, it is clear that the networking opportunities and career support offered at this event are still vitally important. Earlier this year we asked our community to complete a survey on the type of virtual events they would like us to hold. We had an overwhelming response, with career development events and networking being the most popular; the opportunity to give presentations, oral or in poster form, were the least important to you during this time.

With this in mind we have developed a new initiative, PILLAR; a completely virtual programme designed to enable networking and provide our community, wherever they may be, access to career support. The launch of PILLAR, commencing on Monday 23 November will replace the Winter Science Meeting this year, and will include a week of virtual events as well as the launch of an exclusive online space for you to network.

PILLAR events and resources are available to all of our active grant awardees and programme participants. Please check the PILLAR Launch Week event page for more information about the sessions planned and how to get involved.

Speed networking was great and, as I've found a lot with AMS, the focus on the general communication of science and (importantly) being a scientist was great."

"I liked the mixture of talks from clinicians and non-clinicians. It was good that both areas were equally represented."

"Networking was fantastic with potential collaborations."
