Mary Dixon-Woods is Professor of Medical Sociology at the University of Leicester. Her world-leading programme of research focuses on patient safety and healthcare improvement, ethics, and methodological innovation and she has a huge international profile. Mary’s exceptional achievements have been recognised by prizes and prestigious fellowships throughout her career, including election to fellowship of the Academy of Social Science and a Wellcome Trust Senior Investigator Award in the Medical Humanities. Her outstanding record of attracting support from major funding bodies is matched by an equally impressive set of highly-cited outputs, published in top journals across both medicine and the social sciences.
