Exemplar clinical pathways for a stratified approach to respiratory disease

12.30, Monday 20 March 2017

Academy of Medical Sciences

41 Portland Place London

This roundtable meeting held in partnership with NHS England convened senior representatives from across the biomedical sector including academia, industry, primary and secondary care clinicians, commissioners and charities, amongst others,  to explore adoption of a stratified approach to severe asthma in the NHS. The roundtable was chaired by Professor Stephen Holgate CBE FMedSci, MRC Clinical Professor of Immunopharmacology at the University of Southampton.

The meeting aimed to strengthen the evidence base for the stratification of severe asthma with respect to patient adherence and new genomic and biological markers, and explored adoption of such an approach in the NHS. This event was held as part of a series of joint meetings by the Academy and NHS England to explore adoption of a stratified approach across the NHS, with two previous meetings focused on diabetes and cardiovascular disease (reports available on the publications page). The report from this meeting has been published and is available on the right hand side of this page.

The roundtable took place on 20 March 2017 and was by invitation only. For further details please contact forum@acmedsci.ac.uk.
